What is Pain?

When we injure ourselves the body sends a signal from the injured site to the brain telling it that there is a cut, a burn or a fracture.

The brain responds. It sends a signal that would stop further injuries and bring the damage to our attention. This signal is called pain. Throughout our growing years this pain experience stops us from engaging in activities that could cause us damage or injuries. The result is that we survive.

Some people feel less pain than others. These people have a higher pain threshold than others because their brain sends the pain signal with less strength and intensity than another person's brain does.

When inflammation, illness or surgery is present the brain again sends pain signals in an attempt to protect the body.

How strong do these pain signals have to be to get our attention and keep us from causing more harm? Not that strong!

Teaching the body to respond in an appropriate way that allows for protection and healing without undue restrictions is my goal.

LISTEN AND UNDERSTAND YOUR BODY.
GIVE IT WHAT IT NEEDS.
TAKE CONTROL.

How can you lower or eliminate Pain:

Effective pain control is a multi-faceted approach. food, minerals, water, movement, our emotions, beliefs and thoughts all play an equally important role.

Phantom Pain:

Quite often doctors find that a person who loses a leg for example, experiences pain in the toes of the missing leg. There is no movement from that leg, no signal! The brain  is confused, something  wrong! To get  our attention the brain sends a signal: Pain!  What it means to say is: “ Pay attention!” “Move your limb.” “Something is wrong!”
The brain uses the signal it learned during child hood: send a pain signal and the condition will be corrected.
Effective pain control means teaching the body that it is time to stop sending the pain signal and find a better way to communicate.

Ok, but what about real pain?

All pain is real. All pain signals are sent from the same source: The Brain. As the brain creates all pain signals it can also stop creating these pain signals. You can condition yourself with Hypnosis  or Imagery to stop feeling pain during dental surgery, headaches, recovery from injuries, pain due to certain medical treatments and interventions, even childbirth.

Minerals:

Minerals  such as calcium and magnesium are  very important when it comes to the prevention and management of pain. Lack of minerals can cause acid conditions in our bodies  which if left un checked may lead to tooth decay,  weak  or fractured bones and muscle tightness. Malnourished and acidic bodies are susceptible to tooth aches, fractured bones, arthritis, back pain, neck pain, headaches, cancer and a host of other illnesses and conditions. A proper regimen of  good nutrition and  remineralization is vital to our bodies

Food:

Research has found that certain foods can cause conditions in the body that will aggravate pain. Sugar is one of those, excess protein is another.

When we suffer from painful conditions due to inflammation such as arthritis, our body is telling us that we need to make changes. Many things are going wrong at the same time and the body needs help.

Learn to identify and eliminate foods that cause pain and replace them with foods your body needs to heal the condition that causes pain. Proper nutrition is a cornerstone of effective pain control.

Stretching:

“Use it or lose it!” This is never more true than with body movements.
An effective pain control program must include stretching and body movements to help keep the body strong and functioning at a healthy level.
This holds true even if paralysis is present. Our bodies are not designed for prolonged inactivity. They break down.
The more we move the better our circulation and the less likely that we feel pain
Part of a good pain control program  must include a sensible exercise program designed just for you.
